Lutheran World Relief (LWR)

Holy Spirit partners with other Lutheran churches throughout the world to participate in Lutheran World Relief ministries. In particular, we collect items for school kits in July and August, which are then placed in handmade backpacks and packaged for shipment overseas. If you would like to donate supplies, we are always looking for spiral bound notebooks, pencils, blue or black ballpoint pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, rulers (with both cm and inch markings), scissors and 24 count crayons.

In addition to school kits, members of the congregation also sew quilts for distribution around the world. We see this ministry as a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents or floor coverings. Each one reflects God's loving presence in a world rife with suffering.  If you would like to be a part of the quilt-making process, contact the church office so that we can direct you to the right people.
