Family Promise of Genesee County

Family Promise's mission:

Engaging community and faith based organizations in
ENDING HOMELESSNESS --- one family at a time.

Family Promise helps homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence.

Family Promise recognizes that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response. They respond by integrating educational outreach, smart programming, effective policies, and the hands-on work of thousands of volunteers. They provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families as well as advice and advocacy for at-risk families to end and/or prevent them from becoming homeless.  And they educate people about poverty and the means to combat it.

Holy Spirit signed the Family Promise Covenant on July 17, 2013 and since then has been a support church with our first "host week" taking place in October of 2014. Traditional shelters often require men and older male children to separate from mothers and small children.  Family Promise provides safe environments where care is provided for the whole family as a unit.  A host church provides overnight accommodations at their facilities, keeping families together and offering them dinner and breakfast before they head back to the Day Center each day.
Holy Spirit is now able to host families in our new space.  If you are interested in volunteering for this amazing ministry to homeless families, please contact us at
God has clearly lead us here and we can't wait to see what He has in store for us through this powerful ministry.
